Reading Psalm 50 I noted verse 10: For every beast of the forest is mine, the cattle of a thousand hills. I know all the birds of the hills and all that moves in the field is mine.

Several years ago I visited the home of author Gene Stratton Porter. She was a renown naturalist.

When she was a child her pastor father, a poor man, took her outside on her birthday and gave her all the birds on the farm. As a five year old child, she believed him, and took on the goal to know the creatures of her gift. As I read this Psalm, I wonder at the God who creates, Vs. 1, “The Mighty One, God the Lord, speaks and summons the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting.” This Psalm rebukes those who ‘go through the motions of piety’. Other scripture verses encourage us, to come as a child. A child who takes seriously the gifts and the corrections of God. A child who studies to know and understand. A child who is thankful. Please read through this Psalm. Glean from it’s verses and may you praise and be thankful.

Blessings on your day,

Nelle
